Heritage Week 2018
Cultural heritage is the fabric of our lives and societies. It surrounds us in the buildings of our towns and cities; our landscapes, natural sites,monuments and archaeological sites.It is not only made up of literature, art and objects but also by the crafts we learn, the stories we tell, the food we eat, the songs we sing and the films we watch. Cultural heritage brings communities together and builds shared understandings of the places we live in - The Heritage Council
Kerry Geo (formerly "Kerry Geo Adventures" is actively taking part in Heritage Week since 2017. This year`s events are listed below:
Exhibition: "By hammer, lens and pencil" - Frederick James Foot and the North Kerry landscape
"By hammer, lens, and pencil": North Kerry landscape in the eyes of Frederick James Foot is a tribute to a long forgotten Irish geologist, who spent time between 1856-59 surveying North Kerry landscape.

The exhibition consists of his field-sketches and hand-coloured illustrations from North Kerry, with supporting specimens of minerals, rocks, and fossils observed by Frederick James Foot during his time carrying on extensive and detailed fieldwork. Apart from mapping the Kerry landscape during the years 1856 -1859, he published “On the Geology of the Neighbourhood of Tralee” (1857), where he mentions the discovery of fossilized Devonian plant in sandstone at North Kerry coast.

Heritage Week 2017
Heritage Week Event - "Kayaking & Geology" took place 20th August 2017 at Meenoghane Pier, Causeway, North Kerry. This event was the first of its kind in North Kerry. Read more here.
The organizers: Kerry Geo (formerly Kerry Geo Adventures) & Wild Water Adventures put best effort and brought a high standard event. Our involvement was noticed by the Heritage Council and we have been nominated for the Heritage Award in "Hidden Heritage" category.
